Potomac Supply Corporation has an opportunity for a Forester to support our 75 MM board foot sawmill located in Kinsale, Virginia.  Area of operation will include a 75 mile radius of the sawmill. 

 

Duties:

·Supervises independent logging operations and management of corporate timberland

·Quantify forest resources by timber cruising and GPS mapping

· Contract negotiation and timber procurement

·Establish and maintain a network among timber owners and forestry consultants in the area

· Maintain and track timber depletions

· Obtain revenue by selling and merchandising timber

 

Qualifications:

·Associates degree or higher in Forestry or equivalent experience

· 5 – 7 years experience a minimum

· Effective communication skills

· Ability to negotiate and close transactions

·Proficiency in GPS mapping and computerized cruising software

· Computer proficiency

· The ability to manage one’s own time

·Good field work skills (timber marking and cruising, establishing property lines, etc.)

Founded in 1948, Potomac Supply Corporation began as wooden box and toy company in Kinsale located in the Coastal Northern Neck of Virginia.  What began as a simple sawmill operation has emerged into a multi-faceted international business serving the United States and European markets with wooden pallets, pressure treated lumber, and home specialties.  Potomac began building pallets in 1960 and treating lumber in 1971.  Since then, Potomac has been on the forefront of modern technology by adding a computerized sawmill in 1980, 1996, and in 2004, completely renovating the operation to include optimized cutting lines.  The treating plant has undergone many facelifts over the years, adding covered wood storage and has been recognized for its cleanliness and dedication to protecting the environment.  Potomac has been awarded numerous environmental awards over the years including Virginia’s Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence.  Potomac’s operations have become global and their reputation for quality and service reaches far and wide and will continue to create top quality products for the future.
