SUMMARY AND PURPOSE: 

Within the mission of Alaska National Insurance Company and under the professional legal standards of licensed and registered nursing, the registered nurse provides services to the company’s adjusters.  The nurse insures that communication between all parties, including but not limited to injured workers, claims adjusters, physicians, health care providers, employers, vocational counselors, attorneys, and state or federal agencies, insures a quality, cost effective, individualized case management process.

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. Completes quality, comprehensive needs assessment per adjuster request.  Coordinates with appropriate physicians, health care providers, etc., to determine all present and future goals.  Obtain necessary approvals prior to completion of individualized case plan

2. Based on collection of all past, present and future data, recommends an individualized case management plan to adjuster.  Communicates with parities as indicated

3. Continually facilitates and coordinates all aspects of the individualized case management plan. Maintains communication with injured workers regarding the process and status of the plan.  Maintains communication with adjusters regarding plan progress and status.  Coordinates and attends all conferences as indicated

4. Re-evaluates any contingency plans as indicated to assist adjusters.  Documents activities as indicated and requested

5. Acts as expert resource to liability adjusters and workers’ compensation adjusters as requested

6.  Educates Claims Department in areas of medical expertise as requested
