Horticulture Mgr

The Horticulture Manager for The Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA, will assist the General Manager Horticulture in ensuring the reliability and availability of all assets assigned to the team. The Horticulrue Manager oversees assigned aspects of team development and performance while directly leading union craft members. This position will assist in managing budget/cost control, developing and implementing Landscape Maintenance, Irrigation or Arboriculture strategies, ensuring reliability, show quality, safety and the training and development of Cast Members.


Responsibilities:

A. Provide superior horticulture services for the Disneyland Resort. Develop maintenance plans that are driven by maximizing life cycle value and show quality. Provide maintenance as needed to ensure operational readiness and Show Quality.

B. Ensure all work is performed as planned and scheduled with appropriate resources. Generate and evaluate work performance reports, making recommendations for improvements as appropriate.

C. Coordinate work activities with other teams, Shops, overhaul programs, and Project Management. Request support as needed from other teams.

D. Direct craft work efforts.

E. Assess craft skill levels, complete performance appraisals and determine training needs assigned for crafts.

F. Coach and counsel Cast Members; provide growth, development & recognition for team, administer counseling.

G. Plans and define performance expectations and goals for craft.

H. Execute team safety programs. Ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

I. Prepare team communications, written reports, spreadsheets, presentations etc. as needed.

J. Interface with internal customers. Demonstrate proactive customer service.

K. Provide informed input into developing the annual operating plan (AOP), five-year plan (FYP), capital planning, financial course corrections and plans for achieving cost reductions, cost avoidance and value generation.

L. Maintains assigned equipment, tools and other assets to include condition assessments, reporting, and preventive maintenance checks.







REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture or related or equivalent combination of related experience and post-secondary education.
• Minimum 3 years experience in a Horticulture, Irrigation, Arboriculture or Landscape Management position that has included a degree of budgetary responsibility.
• Ability to work various shifts and times to complete work as needed.

• Computer literate; familiar with Microsoft Office, Outlook, MAXIMO or other database software preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Field experience in the installation of trees, irrigation or landscape plantings
• Ability to interpret and understand final phase landscape, hardscape and irrigation plans for current and future projects.
